Former Astros’ manager AJ Hinch answers questions about meeting with Carlos Correa.

Last week, a few pictures circled the internet of former Houston Astros‘ manager AJ Hinch and free agent shortstop Carlos Correa. Hinch, now managing the Detroit Tigers, was having breakfast at a Houston restaurant last Thursday with Correa, as many speculated they discussed him signing with the Tigers.

On Monday in a press conference, Hinch answered a few questions regarding the two’s meeting in the city which they live in. Of course, Hinch was Correa’s only major-league manager before Dusty Baker for five seasons.

The two are friends in that regard, as Hinch told the media that he was handing off a baby gift to Correa. His wife, Daniella, is expecting their first child soon, a son, which is a reason Correa decided not to attend the 2021 All-Star Game with appointments filling their schedules.

Hinch also mentioned that he did order breakfast, a ham and cheese omelet to be exact, while many did speculate it was lunch as well. Hinch dismissed any idea that he ordered lunch.

"“I had a ham and cheese omelet. I didn’t order lunch,” Hinch said. “And I didn’t realize it was as big of a deal as it was. I was delivering a baby gift.”"

Even some fans joked about Hinch’s comments.

The Tigers are in the market for a top free agent shortstop this offseason, as they look to contend in the next few years. But even with Hinch’s comments, you can still imagine the two discussed what could happen this offseason.

Correa recently wore Astros attire on an Instagram post, but a recent picture showed him wearing a Major League Baseball team’s hat backwards. The issue is no one knows what team he was wearing, as the colors were too common.
