An Astros fan showed his displeasure with Mike Fiers not facing Houston in almost two years.
During Wednesday’s contest, a Houston Astros‘ fan dropped his cheese head hat onto the playing field at Minute Maid Park. The hat depicts images of Mike Fiers, while also saying, ‘where have you been lately?’

Fiers hasn’t pitched against the Astros since 2019, as he dodged his former employer all season including the postseason, where he was the only rostered pitcher to not face the Astros. Since then, the right-hander has hit the injured list numerous times. Recently, he was assigned a rehab stint, before the Oakland A’s traveled to Houston.
The cheese idea comes from Astros’ fans calling Fiers a rat for turning on his former team and exposing the sign stealing scandal, which has been a recurring phrase when discussing the pitcher.
It is a fun troll for a fanbase that has taken the most heat over the past year, but I would advise not going to the extent of dropping it on the field. it didn’t hurt anyone, but there is a small chance that the umpires don’t notice it and a player could be running back to the wall and it could affect the play.
It didn’t cause any trouble other than the A’s’ bullpen catcher coming out and grabbing it. Moving forward, it will be interesting to see if Fiers will face the Astros during the regular season, as Houston faces Oakland six more times this season, split home and away.
