Brewers continue to dominate Astros

Thankfully the Astros don’t have to play the Brewers again this year after today. Milwaukee’s 8-2 win on Saturday was their eighth straight over Houston. The Astros are now 3-11 against the Brew Crew this season. Obviously these two teams are headed in opposite directions. The Astros are struggling through the worst season in franchise history while the Brewers could be having their best. The Astros are trying to build for the future. For the Brewers it may be now or never.

To say things haven’t gone well against the Brewers at Minute Maid Park would be an understatement. When the visiting team’s catcher hits for the cycle you’ve got some definite issues. Milwaukee goes into Sunday’s series finale against Wandy Rodriguez with a 6-2 record at MMP this season. But Rodriguez did throw eight shutout innings in a no-decision the last time he faced the Brewers. Wandy leads the team in wins with ten. If he is on his game Rodriguez gives the Astros a good chance to win. In his last outing Rodriguez struck out a career high 13 against the Pirates. However, Wandy has not fared well in day games this year. In eight outings under the sun Rodriguez has a 1.5 WHIP and a 4.15 ERA. In contrast Wandy boasts  much nicer 1.2 WHIP and 3.08 ERA figures in night games. When he’s good, Rodriguez is really good. But when he’s bad it’s hard to watch. Which Wandy will show up today?
