The Houston Astros enter their third World Series in five years, while they face former National League West foe, the Atlanta Braves.

From all the headlines of Astros’ co-hitting coach Troy Snitker and his father, Braves’ manager Brian Snitker coaching against each other to Lance McCullers Jr. being out for the remainder of the postseason, the Astros will be without their starting center fielder Jake Meyers as well.

Meyers hasn’t played since he sustained an injury in Game 4 of the American League Division Series. His spot was taken by the switch-hitting Marwin Gonzalez, who was left off the two previous postseason rosters.

With the surplus of left-handed arms in the Braves’ bullpen, Gonzalez hitting from the right-side could be a pinch-hit option. But even with Aledmys Diaz’s usage down, Gonzalez might not see much more. Garrett Stubbs could have made more sense with his speed and versatility, especially as a third catching option.

The Astros will face their former hurler in Charlie Morton for a third consecutive postseason. The right-hander has three starts this postseason, allowing six runs over 14.1 innings, but Morton has found success against his former employer multiple times since leaving Houston.

In three starts (one with Tampa Bay) against the Astros in the postseason, Morton has surrendered one run over 15.2 innings. The right-hander struck out 20 to only four walks.

Braves vs. Astros Prediction Today

While working the first two games at home, the Astros have still never won a Game 1 of the World Series. That might not change on Tuesday either, while Morton has been lights out against the Astros ever since he departed. In a pitcher’s duel, the Braves will take Game 1 by a small margin.
