Yankees broadcaster, Michael Kay, dismisses any belief of Jose Altuve wearing a wire in Game 6 of the 2019 ALCS.

Earlier this week, the Michael Kay Show aired on ESPN 98.7 FM in New York, as the discussions of the Jose Altuve buzzer theory and the Houston Astros‘ cheating scandal were brought up. Co-host Don La Greca stated that he believes that Altuve was wearing a wire backed by no evidence.

Kay went on to dismiss La Greca’s opinion due to the fact that it was never proven to be real, but he does think certain New York Yankees players believe that Altuve was wearing a wire in Game 6 of the 2019 ALCS.

"“I think a lot of the people that hate the Astros are assuming that Altuve was wearing a wire,” La Greca said.“Which is unfair, because it was never proven,” Kay interrupted.“I think there is enough anecdotal evidence to have that opinion,” La Greca said about believing in the Jose Altuve buzzer theory."

The topic of the 2017 World Series arose as well, while Kay believes the Yankees missed out on the World Series, not because the Astros cheated but that the Yankees couldn’t score runs. After Game 5, the series returned to Minute Maid Park, where the Yankees combined for one run in both Games 6 and 7.

It wasn’t because of another fan speculation, but because the Yankees couldn’t hit off of Justin Verlander nor Charlie Morton. The Yankees scored a total of three runs in four games at Minute Maid Park in that series, which led La Greca to tone back on his speculations.

“Cheating did not stop you from scoring,” Kay said about the Yankees’ lack of run support on the road.
