A Carlos Correa quote makes it sound like this is his final season with the Houston Astros.

In a recent article from The Athletic (subscription needed), the publication discussed the cheating scandal with Houston Astros‘ players, as Carlos Correa’s words make it sound like the 2021 season is his last with the Astros.

While being a fan speculation for quite sometime, Correa’s extension wasn’t met during the past offseason, leaving him a free agent come the end of the ’21 season.

The Athletic’s coverage was in regard to the Astros’ postseason push with opposing fans continuing their boos and complaints. In the article, Correa points to the business aspect of the game, as all players are looking to entertain crowds and viewers across the globe.

While Correa was looking for a large, long-term extension, the right-hander included that he wouldn’t be in talks during the regular season. It takes away from the game, and the Astros were never reported to spark another discussion in terms of money.

"“My last year with the Astros,” Correa told The Athletic. “Hopefully we can win another championship and I can leave this great organization with two of them.”"

The quote feels incomplete and is also from a few months ago, but in regard to his long-term future with the team, it doesn’t look promising.

The free agency field is bolstered for this upcoming offseason, as the shortstop position is heavily represented. The organization hasn’t announced their plans after Correa’s departure, while the two-time All-Star could land with a team looking to spend, possibly the Texas Rangers.
