Move #2 by Astros Twitter: DFA Brooks Raley and/or Joe Smith
A certain buzz of designating two pitchers for assignment has calmed over the last two weeks, but much of Astros’ Twitter has called for Brooks Raley and Joe Smith to be canned. While two of the most tenured arms on the team, the righty-lefty combo hasn’t excelled or reached potential in total
As of late, both relievers have been shaving off digits on their respected ERAs, but with holes being pointed to all over the place, fans still want these two gone. With there not being much help in high-leverage situations, the team can’t go without these hurlers, as much as fans aren’t liking their numbers.
Help is on the way, but with their being such a high ceiling and expectation from a team that is talented, it makes sense that anyone would be frustrated with late-game pitching. If starters aren’t going deep, the Astros are seeing their games slip away due to a depleted bullpen.
