Collin McHugh didn’t allow a run in six innings and the Astros offense belted three home runs, including a grand slam, in route to winning their 10th in a row.

George Springer got things started with a lead-off home run and the Astros never looked back. Josh Reddick hit his first homer of the year in the second inning, a two-run shot, making it 3-0.

After Yuli Gurriel scored on a bases-loaded walk by Springer, Alex Bregman cleared the bases with a grand slam, making the score 8-0. This was Bregman’s second career slam, the last one was in 2017 against the Yankees.

In the top of the 7th, Robinson Chirinos had a sac fly, bringing in Gurriel, who scored three runs in the game. The A’s would add a sac fly of their own in the bottom of the 9th, breaking up the shutout.

Collin McHugh pitched six scoreless innings, picking up the win. In four starts, McHugh has a 1.96 ERA in 23 innings, giving up five runs on twelve hits. He has 27 strikeouts against only seven walks.

Reymin Guduan made his debut for the Astros in the game, and it didn’t go well. He walked the first batter he faced, then gave up two singles to load the bases. After a sac fly gave the A’s their only run, he was replaced by Chris Devenski, who got both batters he faced out.

The Astros are now 12-5 after starting out 2-5, and are now in first place in the AL West. The Seattle Mariners have now lost five games in a row after losing to Cleveland, 4-2.

Wade Miley and Frankie Montas will face off tonight in the finale of the short two-game series. After a day off on Thursday, Houston travels to Arlington to face the Texas Rangers in the Lone Star Series. Texas leads the series 2-1.
