Astros: Las Vegas oddsmakers have Houston on top in 2019

According to Caesar’s Palace oddsmakers in Las Vegas, the Houston Astros are projected to have the best record in the Major Leagues.

The Astros win projection by Caesar’s Palace is set at 97.5, a drop of 5.5 games from last season’s record. The Yankees are one back at 96.5, followed by the Red Sox and the Dodgers with 95.5 and 95 respectively.

The American League West Division will apparently be another easy win for Houston. The Angels are the closest team behind the Astros with 83.5 projected wins, giving Houston a 14 game lead. Oakland was right behind Los Angeles with 83 wins. The forecast for the Mariners and Rangers was a bit grim, with Seattle 23 games back and Texas in the cellar at 27.5 back.

Oakland and Seattle are showing the largest drop in wins from last year, losing at least 14 more games. The teams projected to have the biggest improvement year over year are the Royals, White Sox and Orioles’ but still have those three teams in the bottom six of the league. The World Series Champion Red Sox are forecast to lose 12.5 more games than last season.

Even though the Astros are projected to have the most wins for the season, it doesn’t guarantee another World Series ring in 2019. The odds of winning the Championship per Caesar’s Palace are a whole different story.

Unfortunately, the Red Sox are the odds-on favorites the repeat with a +500 odds and the Astros right behind them at +700. The American League division winners are projected to be Boston, Houston and the Cleveland Indians. From there a repeat series between the Red Sox and the Astros, with Boston coming out on top to win the pennant.

The National League Division winners are forecast to be the Nationals, Dodgers and the cubs. Washington is projected to come out as the winners for the National League Championship, but losing to Boston in the World Series.

So the oddsmakers are putting Boston and Houston as the top two teams to win it all. It will all come down to the American League Championship Series. Let’s just hope they are a little off on the calculations and the Astros bring home another trophy.
