Which Houston Astros players had the biggest positive and negative impacts in fantasy baseball in Week 19?

To say this was a rough week for the Astros would be an understatement. As a result, fantasy owners found themselves disappointed by many Houston players. Both pitching and hitting had their share of issues this week, leading to the team’s lackluster 1-5 record. Owners and fans alike will be hoping for a rebound soon.

Best Hitter: Jose Altuve

Altuve continues to rake despite the team’s struggles. He posted three multi-hit games this week, including a homer and a pair of stolen bases. He’s been as consistent as he’s been magnificent this year, making those who drafted him very happy.

Best Pitcher: Ken Giles

The fact that Giles blew a save and still gets the nod here shows just how bad the team’s pitching was this week. To be fair, Giles also made two scoreless appearances, including a two-inning save on Sunday. He’s been excellent of late, the blown save notwithstanding, and has been racking up the strikeouts.

Worst Hitter: Josh Reddick

Reddick’s production has definitely been down in the dumps this week. He went just 1-for-21 in five games with no RBIs or runs scored. Maybe this is his version of the post-deadline blues, but owners can bench him until he snaps out of it. He’s had a solid season up until now.

Worst Pitcher: Mike Fiers

Plenty of candidates for this one, but Fiers edges them out. He coughed up six runs in just four innings against the Rangers on Saturday. After a great run, he’s 0-3 with an 8.41 ERA in his last four starts. You may want to bench him until he turns things back around.

Next: Astros acquire White Sox reliever Tyler Clippard

Tyler Clippard‘s Fantasy Value

With the news that the Astros appear to be adding Clippard to the bullpen, will he have any fantasy value for owners? It’s not likely, even if he is effective. Giles is the closer and will remain that way barring injury or implosion, so Clippard’s save opportunities will be few and far between. Unless you’re in an incredibly deep league, he’s not worth much for you.
