Houston Astros Are on Santa’s “Nice” List This Winter

This offseason has been a fun one for fans of the Houston Astros, with the additions of Jed Lowrie, Pat Neshek and Luke Gregerson via free agency in the past couple of weeks. With these additions, there is a lot of optimism surrounding the Astros as 2015 approaches, proving that it’s always beneficial to be on Santa’s “nice” list.

From 2011-2013, the Houston Astros lost 100+ games in each of their three seasons. In a direct correlation with their performance on the field, big name free agents avoided Houston as a landing spot each of those offseasons. In 2014, the Astros showed improvement, and Santa has removed them from the naughty list, and rewarded them (and their fans) with some splashy free agent signings.

  • New toys are fun; just ask the Nintendo 64 kid. I have a feeling that I wasn’t the only person to react in that manner to some of the Astros’ recent moves. With the additions made to the bullpen in Neshek and Gregerson, and Lowrie providing depth on the left side of the infield, more improvement is expected in 2015. If our boys in blue deliver, next winter could bring even shinier toys for us all to gawk at.

    Now, for a silly little carol to celebrate the holiday:

    He knows when you are hitting, he knows when you can rake;

    He knows if you’re playing bad or good, so be good for goodness’ sake!

    Oh, you better watch out, you better not cry, the 2015 Astros may pass you by;

    Santa Claus is comin’ to town!

    From everyone here at Climbing Tal’s Hill, we hope have a very Merry Christmas, and a safe holiday season! In just a couple of months, baseball activities will be picking back up, and we couldn’t be more excited for the return of baseball.
