George Springer to disabled list; Marc Krauss recalled

The  Astros have placed rookie phenom George Springer on the 15-day disabled list with a strained quad muscle. Springer seemed to be running a bit gingerly on Saturday and has not played since. Marc Krauss has been called up to take Springer’s place on the active roster.

The Astros have won two straight games without Springer in the lineup. But that is a trend that is going to be tough to continue. Springer joins fellow outfielders Dexter Fowler and Alex Presley on the 15-day D.L., leaving the Astros scrambling to field a productive lineup on a daily basis.

We should have known it was coming when the Astros kept saying Springer “shouldn’t have to go on the disabled list”. With two days served retroactively, Springer will be eligible to be activated on August 5th — when the Astros are in Philadelphia. Unfortunately, those of us that were hoping to get to see George play on the upcoming homestand will have to wait.

Get well soon, George. The Astros need you. And so do the fans.
