The Corpus Christi Hooks hosted the Frisco Rough Riders Thursday night on the CBS Sports Network’s Minor League Game of the Week. Unfortunately, the Astros AA farm team came out on the wrong end of the decision.

Hooks first-baseman Telvin Nash got the scoring started with a homerun to leftfield leading off the bottom of the third inning. Andrew Aplin would drive in the Hooks second run of the game later in the frame. Rangers top five prospect Joey Gallo, who was recently promoted to AA, cut the lead in half with a fourth inning homer to centerfield off Hooks starter Jordan Jankowski.

The Rough Riders took the lead for good with four runs in the sixth inning. The big blow was a bases loaded triple by Odubel Herrera. Leo Heras drove in a run with a pinch-hit double in the seventh, but the Hooks were unable to add on any more runs.

Frisco starter Edwar Cabrera moved to 3-3 on the year with the win. The lefty allowed two runs on three hits and five walks over six innings pitched. Phil Klein pitching the final two innings to earn his eighth save. Klein struck out the side in the ninth. Jankowski suffered the loss, dropping to 1-2 for the year.

The broadcast featured interviews with several VIPs, including the Mayor of Corpus Christi, the Astros Assistant Director of Player Personnel, and Super-fan Tammy Tucker — whose photography has been featured here at CTH. Way to go, Tammy!
