The Astros best hitter is not in tonight’s lineup. Jonathan Villar, nursing a jammed thumb, will be available off the bench. Hopefully Villar won’t miss much time with the injury.
Villar out of the lineup with jammed thumb but he can play. Albers will throw a simulated game Friday.

The Astros shortstop leads the club with five homeruns and a .510 slugging percentage. And he’s been doing it from the number nine spot in the lineup. Marwin Gonzalez fills in for Jonathan tonight. Here’s the rest of Bo Porter‘s lineup against Rick Porcello and the Detroit Tigers.

The Astros are trying to snap a 4-game losing streak. The Central Division leading Tigers have won seven in a row. The Astros are 1-8 against Detroit since moving to the American League last year. Something has got to give. Right?
Brad Peacock will need to limit the walks to give the Astros any chance in this one. Peacock could be pitching for his rotation spot as well. A bad outing could result in a trip to the bullpen, or worse.
