Lance Berkman announces his retirement

Former Astro Lance Berkman has officially hung up his spikes. The Big Puma announced his retirement from baseball today at the age of 37.
Knee injuries that took a toll on Berkman over the last few seasons have finally become too debilitating for the 6-time All-Star.
Lance Berkman says he is retiring: "I'm excited about to be honest with you. I think it's going to be great."

Lance Berkman on retiring: "Just physically I've gotten to the point where I don't think I can compete at a level I'm used to competing at"

Berkman broke into the league with the Astros in 1999. In 12 seasons in Houston he became one of the most successful and popular players in franchise history.
We have had some fun here at the site doing an impersonation of Berkman, but it was all in good faith. We only poke fun at him because we love him.
Despite demanding a trade in 2010, Berkman has always been, and still is a fan favorite in this town. We wish Lance the best of luck in his retirement years. Maybe, if we are lucky, we can get him to do a real interview in the near future.
