Latest Astros rumors at Winter Meetings
After a slow Monday for the Astros in Orlando, things have started to heat up on Tuesday. The only real Astros news to surface on Day 1 of the Winter Meetings was the apparent interest in Lucas Harrell.
After a slow morning, the hot stove rumors have started to heat up on Tuesday afternoon. Evan Drellich of The Chronicle writes that the Astros are interested in Free Agent reliever Chad Gaudin. The piece also suggests that the team is not interested in Kevin Youkilis.
Brian McTaggart tweets that the Astros are interested in Mike Morse. The slugging OF/1B had a down year in 2013, after a couple of nice seasons for the Nationals.
McTaggart also tells us that Jose Veras is interested in returning to Houston. Veras says he likes that the organization gave him a chance as a closer and says Houston feels like home. His agent has been in contact with the Astros and a reunion is a possibility. Honestly, I’d take Veras over Gaudin any day of the week. Another reliever that the Astros have been linked to is former University of Houston Cougar Jesse Crain.
