Arizona Fall League Primer
Just because the 2013 regular season is over, it does not mean that there will be no more baseball to follow.

The Arizona Fall League begins play October 8th and concludes with the championship game November 16th. There will be eight Astros’ prospects playing this fall for the Peoria Javelinas.
In the next week prior to Opening Day, we will take a look at the players the Astros are sending to Arizona. Houston’s prospects will be teamed up with prospects from the Seattle Mariners, San Diego Padres, Kansas City Royals, and Cincinnati Reds.
Competition in the minor leagues is sometimes inconsistent, and the Arizona Fall League provides teams an opportunity to get a better look at their prospects. Success in Arizona is often a springboard towards future major league success.
Once play begins, Climbing Tal’s Hill will have you covered as we track the future Astros. These are the players we will be tracking.
- Delino DeShields, OF. This might be the player I’m most intrigued about, and you can read my thoughts on him here.
- Japhet Amador, 1B.
- Nolan Fontana, IF.
- Jonathan Meyer, 3B. Meyer is only on the Taxi-Squad, which means that he only will play two days per week, unless there is an injury.
- Jonas Dufek, P.
- Alex Sogard, P.
- Andrew Robinson, P.
- Matt Heidenreich, P.
