The Astros ran their winning streak to four games with a 9-7 win over the Angels last night. The Angels came to Minute Maid Park riding a hot streak of their own, winning 15 of their last 20. Dominguez added that he was happier for Clark than himself, a sentiment that seemed to be felt among the crowd at Minute Maid Park that loudly cheered the catcher when the hit skidded onto the outfield grass. Even before the scoreboard announced it was Clark’s first hit, the fans seemed to already know.
With a 2-0 lead in the Midwest League Championship Series, Quad Cities takes on South Bend at home tonight starting at 7:00 CST. Josh Hader will get the start for Quad Cities. He has a 5-6 record with a 2.77 ERA and a 1.258 WHIP in 22 starts during the regular season.
Singleton had a huge swing and I didn’t see great bat speed. He had some bat control though as he was fooled baddly on a slower breaking ball but kept the bat in the zone to make contact. He chased another slow curve and pulled it reasonably hard, doing a good job just to make contact.
So far, Lindsay and others working to save the Astrodome haven’t heard of any organized effort against the referendum. But Robert Stein, a professor at Rice University in Houston, said he is expecting some opposition.
