The American League West All-Star Team

With the mid-summer classic coming up on Tuesday night, I thought it would be interesting to look at what an AL West All-Star team would look like. I decided to use a 25-man roster, having eleven pitchers and 14 position players (including a D.H.). Without further ado, I give you my American League West All-Star Team:

Joe Nathan (Tex) – 30 SV, 1.36 ERA, 9.53 K/9 and a 0.76 WHIP

What Surprised Me:

  • Mike Trout is having every-bit as good of a season as he had in 2012. He isn’t getting near the coverage thanks to being on a struggling team, and the buzz surrounding Yasiel Puig, Chris Davis and Miguel Cabrera.
  • The A.L. West has a lack of good offensive shortstops. Behind Jed Lowrie there really wasn’t a close second for me.
  • According to WAR, Josh Donaldson is the second best player in the division.
