The Astros had a 2-5 week to start the month of July and there were a few players with noteworthy performances. The first win of the week was due to a fine pitching effort from Bud Norris and a pair of homers by Chris Carter. Norris and Carter share runner-up honors this time around and a young Astro gets his first career Star Perfomer Award.

Recently promoted to the big leagues for the first time in his career, Marc Krauss finally got in the starting lineup on Saturday. The Astros rookie outfielder made the most of the opportunity. Marc had three hits, scored a run, and drove in two in the Astros win over the Rangers. Krauss was back in the lineup on Sunday and continued to produce quality at-bats. With the Astros trailing 3-0 after one inning, Krauss launched a 2-run homer in the second to get Houston back in the game. The longball was his first as a big leaguer. Congratulations to Marc Krauss, this week’s winner of the Star Performer Award.

Jason Castro gets honorable mention this week. The Astros catcher was named to his first All-Star team on Saturday. To celebrate, Jason went out and hit a game-winning 3-run homer later that afternoon against the Rangers. Way to go Jason!
