Altuve still has less than two full years of service time and won’t be eligible for arbitration until after the 2014 season. As it stands right now, the Astros control Altuve through the 2017 season, after which he will still be just 27 years old.
As the face of Ryan- Sanders Baseball, Reid Ryan helped make the Class AAA Round Rock Express and Class AA Corpus Christi Hooks two of the most successful minor league franchises in the country.
We’ve signed him up for three years. It’s just a standard deal. Gives him some security. Lets his family get focused in the community. We’ll certainly work beyond that. I’ve seen him in action. I’ve seen how good he is and that’s why I wanted him.
There will be some changes in the offing, but what remains unchanged is our reporting relationship to Reid. I am excited for our fans and delighted for him. The Hooks are his baby; he created this franchise. No one cares more about our people and this ball club than he does.
