The Astros have activated LHP Travis Blackley and OF Fernando Martinez for tonight’s game against the Cleveland Indians. J.D. Martinez has been placed on the 15-day disabled list after suffering a knee sprain in last night’s contest.

Blackley has yet to see any action with the Astros since coming over from the Oakland Athletics in a trade. The 30-year old from Australia went on the D.L. with a strained left shoulder shortly after arriving in Houston. Blackley threw two innings Thursday for Oklahoma City and had no ill effects.

Fernando Martinez has spent the first three weeks of the season on the D.L. due to an oblique strain. Martinez went 2 for 18 in a 5-game rehab assignment with the RedHawks. F-Mart is not in the starting lineup tonight. Brandon Laird, who was recently recalled from AAA, gets his first start. Laird is playing 1B and batting third against the Indians and Scott Kazmir.
