Bring on the Cubs!

Not much has happened on the diamond to get Astros fans excited this season. So let’s get pumped about this September “hot streak”. It could be our last chance for a while. The Astros are 4-4 this month. That’s after winning a total of eight games in the previous two months combined. So the team is getting some of their best results in quite some time. With the Cubs (owners of the second worst record in baseball) headed to Minute Maid Park for three games, this could be the Astros best chance to go on a winning streak.

Dallas Keuchel (Brett Davis-US PRESSWIRE)

The Astros have lost five of their last six games against the Cubs, but all of those were played at Wrigley Field. Houston has come out on top in their last five meetings with the Cubs at Minute Maid Park. The Cubs just completed a three-game sweep in Pittsburgh over the weekend and are also playing some of their best baseball of the season.

Tonight’s pitching matchup is an interesting one. Dallas Keuchel (1-7, 5.54 ERA) faces Chris Volstad (2-10, 6.23 ERA). Expect a high-scoring game with these two struggling hurlers on the mound. Keuchel hasn’t won since June 23 and Volstad just recently snapped a 14-game losing streak.

Keuchel is making his first start for the Astros since being recalled from AAA last week. The lefty will fill the final spot in Houston’s six-man rotation for the remainder of the season.
