The Astros added two top 50 prospects to their barren farm system by trading Hunter Pence to Philadelphia. One of those prospects is first-baseman Jonathan Singleton. Prior to the trade the twenty year-old Singleton played for the Phillies High-A level Clearwater Threshers of the Florida State League. The minor league experts at FanSided’s Seedlings to Stars have bestowed Florida State League All-Star honors upon Singleton.

Astros fans can look for Singleton at AA Corpus Christi in the upcoming season. If he continues to progress we may see Singleton in Houston as soon as September of 2013. The other top prospect included in the Pence trade is 21 year-old righty Jarred Cosart. We will take a closer look at Cosart some time later this winter.
