Astros have disconnected the phones and called it a day

The Houston Astros are done selling and will most likely be keeping Wandy Rodriguez, Brett Myers, Carlos Lee and Clint Barmes. They did however end up making three trades over the past few weeks moving Jeff Keppinger, Hunter Pence, and Michael Bourn for a total of ten players, nine of them minor league prospects.

If anything Ed Wade has certainly beefed up the farm system and really focused on adding pitching, bringing in seven pitchers. I am sure the majority of the fans are not happy with the trades but unfortunately with how depleted the farm system is, it had to be done at some point. Hunter Pence and Michael Bourn were the two most talented players and brought back the most talent of anyone currently on the roster.

With the types of trades the Astros pulled off, bringing in a number of young prospects, it is unfair to give grades at this point. Fans will have to wait two, or even three years, to see if these trades actually were good moves for the organization. It was a risk but a necessary risk to make the organization competitive again on a yearly basis.
