Star Performer of the Week July 4-10

As we go to the All-Star break the Astros won only one game for the third consecutive week. This is really starting to get old. Weeks like this don’t provide much in the way of standout performances. Once again I have to go with the starting pitcher who claimed the week’s only victory.

Bud Norris went seven strong innings to pick up the win Wednesday against the Pirates. Bud’s stellar outing makes him the first three-time winner of the Star Performer Award. Hunter Pence is the only other player to win twice. Other recipients of the award are: Angel Sanchez, Brett Myers, Brett Wallace, Jason Bourgeois, Carlos Lee, Wilton Lopez, Matt Downs, and Wandy Rodriguez. Let’s hope the second half provides us some super performances. I’d like to see at least one Astros player  selected as the N.L. Player of the Week before the season ends.
