Down On The Farm Recap

I figured now would be a good time to throw in another minor league recap and hit you with something positive after another disappointing loss to the Cardinals last night. The good news starts in Lancaster with starter Jose Cisnero. This season has been a tale of two seasons for Cisneros so far. He had an 11 strikeout performance on 04/12, but followed that up by giving up 5 earned runs in 1.1 innings pitched. He had a 13 strikeout performance on 05/03, but followed that up by allowing 4 earned runs in 1 inning pitched. Last night Cisnero once again dominated. He went 7 innings while allowing 1 earned run on 2 hits and struck out 7. This outing is the second outing in a row that Cisnero went at least 7 innings while also striking out 7 batters. In his last two outings Cisnero has thrown 14.2 innings, allowed 1 earned run, struck out 14, and only walked 4 batters.

Oklahoma City won 6-3

Nelson Figueroa – 5 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 4 SO, 1 HR, 1-5 GO/AO

Fernando Abad – 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, BB, 2 SO – Our Astros castoffs Figueroa and Abad had a nice night.

Brandon Barnes CF – 1-5, HR, RBI, 3 SO – Even though he’s hitting .222, that’s his 5th homer with OKC. 3 strikeouts are not all that great though.

Max Ramirez C – 2-5, HR, RBI – 2nd homer since signed by the Astros

Brian Dopirak DH – 3-4, 2 RBIs, SO – Also hit his 5th homer of the season

Tommy Manzella SS – 2-3, 3B, RBI, BB, SB

Corpus Christi lost 12-7

Kyle Greenwalt – 3 IP, 5 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 3 BB, SO, 3 HR – Not a very good outing at all

Matt Nevarez – 0.2 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 2 SO – Since getting off to a good start he’s been struggling

Kirk Clark – 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, SO – Picked up his 11th save of the season

Jose Thompson SS – 2-4, 2B, SO – I was surprised to see him at shortstop. I guess Villar is injured?
