The Houston Astros finally got into the win column after some quality pitching from their starter Brett Myers and timely hitting from the offense as they won 3-2 today. It was a great game for the boys of summer as they never trailed in this game getting a run in the first off a groundout by Hunter Pence.

The Reds responded with a run in the bottom of the second off a double by Edgar Renteria. Brett Wallace was able to put a ball in play in the fourth that brought Carlos Lee home for a 2-1 lead. It was not until the 7th when Scott Rolen hit a home run to tie the game back up at two before Matt Downs hit a double in the top of the 9th that brought Brett Wallace home for the winning run.

This was a great game for Brett Myers, who has been the only starting pitcher who has pitched well this season, throwing 6.1 innings only allowing 2 runs with 4 strikeouts. Myers through his first two starts has an ERA of 2.03 and has been the ace of the staff to this year. The bullpen kept the Astros in this game as Mark Melancon, Fernando Abad, who got the win, and Brandon Lyon, who got the save, pitched a solid last 2.2 innings. This was a good game for Lyon who was able to get the save even though giving up two hits.

The Astros are finally going to have their home opener tomorrow as they host the Florida Marlins at a 7:05 PM ET start time. Bud Norris will get the start for the Astros as the Marlins send Ricky Nolasco to the mound.
