The closer we get to Spring Training, the harder the wait is. We are now just 25 days away from pitchers and catchers reporting to Kissimmee and I have the feeling that the time will drag.

Thanks to the Hot Stove league, November and December go quickly and are filled with excitement and speculation. Then you have the holidays and playoff football to keep your attention. The dark days of January seem like the start of baseball season is just too far away, but in reality it is closer than you think.

With just one game left in the football season, this is time to fully get into baseball mode. Yes we are more than three weeks away from official workouts and more than a month away from the Astros’ first exhibition game, but it will be here before you know it.

Even the most optimistic Astros’ fan can’t expect for them to win more than 70-75 games this season, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a lot to be excited about for 2014 and beyond.

As we begin to get ready for Spring Training, Jose de Jesus Ortiz does a very good job getting Astros’ fans ready for the spring with a primer for things to look forward to. Taking a look at it will certainly get you in the mood for Spring Training.
