After getting swept in Colorado the Astros got a split in San Francisco to finish the week with a 2-5 record. Houston had a pair of extra inning losses but finished on a high note with an eleven inning win today. Bud Norris had a poor outing in Colorado but a nice outing today against the Giants. Sorry Bud, not enough to take home the hardware this time.

Brett Myers gets honorable mention, tossing seven innings of two-hit baseball last night in San Francisco. Matt Downs is this week’s runner-up. Downs went 6 for 16 including a game winning RBI in today’s game. This week’s award goes to Carlos Lee. El Caballo was red hot, getting at least one hit in every game. Lee had five doubles and a homer and was 12 for 26 for the week. He also walked four times. Lee left today’s game with an ankle injury but says he will be back in the lineup tomorrow. Hopefully he is right. The Astros need his hot bat right now.

On a separate note, injured catcher Jason Castro will join the team in Houston for the upcoming homestand. Castro is recovering from pre-season knee surgery and will take batting practice and catch some bullpen sessions. If all goes as expected Castro will soon be headed to Florida for instructional league.
