One starting pitcher to keep close tabs with is Astros prospect J.P. France.

France saw Triple-A ball for the first time in 2021, following a 13.4-strikeout per nine innings at Double-A Corpus Christi. The right-hander flashed the punch out card in Sugar Land as well, sustaining a 12 strikeout per nine innings in 17 games.

While also left off the 40-man this winter, France is in a similar boat to Papierski with a stronger chance to stay on a major-league 26-man roster. with a commanding fastball and multiple breaking pitches, the soon-to-be 27-year-old is on the older end of prospects.

France can make a case in 2022 for a jump to the 40-man roster or be sought out by rebuilding teams as a backend of the rotation arm.
