On today’s #AstroChat, I go against those who want a closer to be a priority for the Astros offseason. I argue that a combination of relievers will be much better served for the value that will need to be traded. Valued pitching and offensive prospects will be better served in trades for on-base percentage or guys who can offer more than one year of club control.

Also on the podcast:

-If I’m trading for a closer, it will only be Ken Giles, not Aroldis Chapman.

-Why on-base percentage can’t be forgotten about in this crazy world of relievers

–Colby Rasmus should not be seen as a big hit on Astros spending. Crane has not given us an indication he will be cheap.

I'm Andy Pondillo, I'm a national sports producer for Yahoo Sports Radio. I have been a diehard baseball and Astros fan since 1997. I couldn't have picked a better year to start watching the 'Stros. With the team rebuilding and in some confusion, it is now my voice that will bring them back to contention! Just kidding of course, I think.
