Playoff bound Hooks sweep San Antonio - Climbing Tal's Hill - Climbing Tal's Hill - A Houston Astros Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More

]]> In case you haven’t heard yet, the Astros AA affiliate Corpus Christi Hooks clinched a playoff spot with a 5-2 win over San Antonio on Saturday. Jake Goebbert‘s two-run homer in the first inning set the tone early and Paul Clemens held the Missions to one run on three hits through six innings. Kevin Chapman and Jason Stoffel came out of the bullpen to finish things off and the Hooks celebrated on the diamond at Whataburger Field. It had to be a great feeling for those associated with the team that had labored through a dismal 2011 season.

]]> Thursday night I  got a chance to see one of the Astros newest additions make his organizational debut. Paul Clemens, acquired from the Braves in the Michael Bourn trade, made the start for AA Corpus Christi in San Antonio.  The last place Hooks were attempting to get their first win at Wolf Stadium in eleven tries this season. That didn’t happen, but Clemens was quite effective in a no-decision.
