]]> The Astros and Rockies had a back-and-forth battle in the first game of today’s double-header. Jed Lowrie’s eighth inning error turned out to be the difference. With two outs and a runner on first, Dexter Fowler hit a grounder to shortstop. Instead of throwing to first base Lowrie elected to try and flip the ball to second base for the force play. It was a straight-up brain cramp that cost the Astros and Fernando Martinez the game.

]]> The Astros were unable to overcome some early miscues and dropped tonight’s season opener against Colorado. Wandy Rodriguez kept Houston in the game, lasting 6 & 1/3 innings despite not having his best stuff. The game was tied entering the eighth inning but Houston’s fourth error of the night allowed the Rockies to take the lead for good.
