The national media will tell us this is the best division in the N.L. but I’m not so sure. Philadelphia and Atlanta should be good and the Mets will be bad. The jury is still out on Miami and Washington. Here’s a closer look at all five squads.

Well, the Astros have a new owner and General Manager and it seems, an injury prone catcher. One thing that has remained the constant since our 2005 World Series run has been SP Wandy Rodriguez. I don’t think anyone would confuse him for an ace, but he is certainly capable of being a #2 and definitely a #3 starter in MLB. The problem is that his talents are being wasted on a team in transition. While Carlos Lee and Brett Myers can also be considered trade chips, Wandy is our last blue chip trade asset.

One team continues to steal the headlines at this week’s Winter Meetings in Dallas. That team is the Miami Marlins. That’s right, the Miami Marlins. The team formerly known as the Florida Marlins has already signed three big name Free Agents this week. Heath Bell, Jose Reyes, and Mark Buehrle will be wearing the hideous new Miami uniform when the Marlins open their new retractable-roof stadium on April 4. The Marlins also offered Albert Pujols a 10-year contract in excess of $200 million but were ultimately turned down by the future Hall of Famer. Unable to woo Pujols, the Marlins quickly turned their focus to pitching and inked Buehrle to a 4-year $58 million deal. Now the Marlins are said to be courting another lefty, C.J. Wilson.
