Since becoming the Astros G. M. a little less than a year ago, Jeff Luhnow has made a number of trades in an attempt to restock a neglected farm system. Although it will take some time to determine whether or not these trades were indeed productive, almost all of them have been viewed in a positive light. One exception could be the May 26 deal that sent Justin Ruggiano to Miami for Jobduan Morales.

Jobduan Morales Playing Some 1B

Catcher, Jobduan Morales, who was acquired from the Miami Marlins for OF Justin Ruggiano earlier this season, has been seeing an increase in playing time at first base over the past few weeks. Having Morales comfortable playing two positions will certainly help his versatility. Morales is currently with the Tri City Valley Cats up in New York where he has played pretty well since being acquired by the Astros. He has a .289 batting average with 5 home runs and 25 RBI thus far.

Mets 8 Astros 2

The Astros offense couldn’t get on track today against R.A. Dickey and the Mets. The knuckleball pitcher was effectively wild, walking three and allowing only one hit in 6 & 1/3 innings. Justin Ruggiano‘s pinch-hit single in the sixth inning was the only hit Dickey allowed. Ruggiano also doubled against Ramon Ramirez in the eighth to go two-for-two, collecting half of Houston’s four hits in the game.
