This year I limited myself to handicapping teams, because I haven’t had much luck recently when trying to predict individual award winners. ]]> Sunday’s 5-1 win over the Reds gave the Astros a series victory in their final visit to Cincinnati as a member of the National League. Houston hitters got on track early against Reds starter and league ERA leader Johnny Cueto as Jimmy Paredes, Brian Bogusevic, and Brett Wallace slapped three straight singles to start the game.  Fernando Martinez brought Paredes home with a sacrifice fly before Matt Dominguez hit into an inning ending double-play.

]]> For the second straight night Francisco Cordero served up a go-ahead hit to Reds outfielder Drew Stubbs in the ninth inning. Cordero’s line was almost identical to the night before: 3 runs allowed, a blown save, and a loss in only 2/3 of an inning.  Cordero exited the Minute Maid Park playing field to a chorus of boos from the frustrated fans that desperately wanted to see the Astros end their eight game losing streak.
