For fans who watched Hunter Pence all season should not be surprised that he made the most of his time seeing playing for the first time in an All-Star game. He was named to the All-Star team back in 2009 but did not get into the game.

Hunter Pence entered in the top of the fourth for Matt Holliday in left field and it didn’t take long before he got involved. With two outs, Adrian Beltre hit a single to left field that Pence quickly fielded and threw a rope to home plate to throw out Jose Bautista who was trying to score.

That throw kept the American League to 1-0 and the National League responded in the bottom of the inning with three runs to take the lead and held onto it for the rest of the game. That play was not Pence’s only contribution on the night as he went 1 for 2 at the plate and scored a run in the bottom of the seventh, thanks to a ground rule double by Pablo Sandoval.

Unfortunately for Pence he must now return to the last place Astros but tonight he should enjoy his time as one of the best in baseball today.
