]]> As far back as the middle of the 2012 season, Astros GM Jeff Luhnow made it clear that he planned to pursue Lance Berkman to be the club’s first ever DH when we make the move from the NL Central to the AL West. This offseason came around and he was pursued but the Astros eventually signed Carlos Pena presumably to share the 1B/DH duties with Brett Wallace. The Berkman era seemed all but closed again, until today when word came out that the Astros are still speaking with him about a return.

]]> Alan Ashby, the former Astros catcher, minor league instructor and radio broadcaster appaears to be headed back to Houston to serve as the latter for another go around. Ashby had been serving as the Toronto Blue Jays color commentator since 2007 but abruptly resigned today from his post with Toronto amid speculation that he could be headed back to Houston to serve in that same role.

]]> Former Astros starter and closer, Brett Myers, has agreed to a one year deal with a club option with the Cleveland Indians. Myers owns a career record of 97-93 with a 4.20 ERA in 11 seasons with the Phillies, Astros and White Sox. Having closed for the Phillies and Astros in the past, Myers is expected to slot into Cleveland’s rotation for the 2013 season. He will be reunited with former Astros manager, Brad Mills, who now serves as Cleveland’s third base coach under new manager Terry Francona.
