Jarred Cosart looks to stop Astros losing streak

Jarred Cosart takes the mound today in Chicago looking to do something that Dallas Keuchel couldn’t do yesterday — get his tenth win of the season and stop the Astros losing streak.

The Astros have lost three straight and find themselves only one-half game ahead of the Texas Rangers in the A.L. West standings. Unlike Keuchel, who has fallen on hard times in recent weeks, Cosart was won five of his last six starts. But Jarred will have his work cut out for him. Bo Porter‘s Sunday lineup does not include regular starters George Springer, Jason Castro, and Jon Singleton.

Springer, who belted his 20th homerun of the season yesterday, is resting a sore right knee. Springer is also experiencing some soreness in his right quad. The Astros have an off day on Monday. Hopefully the young slugger will be back in the lineup by Tuesday.

In other news, the club has announced that Brett Oberholtzer will get the start in Tuesday’s series opener in Oakland against the Athletics. Collin McHugh is still on the disabled list with fingernail and blister problems. McHugh will instead make a minor league rehab start and see how it goes.
