Star Performer of the Week: June 9 – 15

A 4-3 week against Arizona and Tampa Bay gave the Astros a winning record for the third consecutive week. The week ended on a sour note but there some great performances earlier in the week.

Stop me if I sound like a broken record, but Dallas Keuchel turned in another solid performance. The lefty earned his eighth win of the season Wednesday at home against the Diamondbacks. Keuchel allowed only one run on four hits and a walk in eight innings of work, striking out five. That’s good enough for an honorable mention this week.

Chris Carter provided plenty of excitement this week. The slugger gave Keuchel all the support he needed, clubbing a pair of homers in Wednesday’s win. Carter followed that up with walkoff dinger on Thursday. Chris now has five homers for the month of June. But he’ll have to settle for runner-up honors this week, as his overall game didn’t quite add up.

This week’s Star Performer Award winner is Jarred Cosart. Jarred got the first win of the week with a six inning outing on Monday, allowing five hits and three runs while walking two and striking out eight. Cosart also picked up the final win of the week with a gutsy 7-inning performance on Saturday. Cosart was able to save the bullpen despite not having his best stuff due to a case of the blahs.

Way to go @JarredCosart! You’ve earned the coveted Star Performer of the Week Award. Display it proudly.
