Blasting Off: '13 All Over Again

Andy Pondillo and Ray Kuhn bring you Blasting Off as they express their disappointment with the Astros play so far.

Our worst fear has struck us at the beginning of 2014, and that is the fact that the Astros look almost identical to last season. With the team supposedly on the upswing improvements will need to be made fast. Any and Ray discuss what adjustments they feel should be made.

Other topics include:
-First impressions of George Springer
-Is Bo Porter already on the hot seat?
-The extreme infield shifts are they necessary?
-A closing discussion on the baseball “code of ethics.”

A sub 200 average is inexcusable!!!

      Couldn’t agree more with that.

It doesn’t matter what skill level, if you are in the MLB you have to be able to swing it at a higher clip than the .100′s!

If Bo Porter isn’t on the hot seat, who is accountable? The only way the Astros win is for trial by fire! They (coaches & players) need to feel as much heat internally as they do from the ALW. It’s a pressure driven sport and if you buckle you are usless.

Yes, he has to be. Everyone needs to be accountable.

I don’t think Bo immediately is, but they have to start trending up. I hope they can keep this recent hitting surge after they leave Seattle.

It would be detrimental that there is no accountability for Bo Porter. He is after all a rookie manager. If your going to demote Robbie Grossman for poor performance, B.P. should definitely stand in the same line. He has a larger effect on the Astros as a whole than any single player.
