Astros trim roster by reassigning 10 players

The Astros made the first roster cuts of the spring this morning, sending ten players to minor league camp.

Five pitchers and five position players make up the group that will be joining fellow minor leaguers on the back fields of Kissimmee. OF Leo Heras, 1B/3B Jonathan Meyer, C Ryan McGurdy, IF Ronald Torreyes, and OF Preston Tucker were all reassigned. Hurlers Paul Clemens, Jake Buchanan, Bobby Doran, Jason Stoffel, and Nick Tropeano were also sent out.

There are no big surprises among this group. Clemens is the only one that is a member of the Astros’ 40-man roster. This first wave of cuts leaves Houston with 55 players remaining in big league camp.
