Peoria started the week off right with a 5-3 victory over the Salt River Rafters to improve to 4-7 on the season.

None of the Astros’ pitchers took the mound, but there were some offensive highlights from the Houston batters. Let’s take a look at how they did.

  • Delino DeShields did a good job of getting things started at the top of the order. DeShields went 3-4 on the day with two doubles and a run scored. However, he did make his second error and also had a strikeout. This brought his average back up to .300 for the fall.
  • Nolan Fontana continued his struggles from the second spot in the order. The shortstop went 1-4 with a single which actually brought his average up to .167.
  • Japhet Amador only went 1-4, but his one hit was a big one. Amador stroked a two run home run, but he did also strike out two times. This was the first baseman’s second home run of the fall, and also brought his RBI total to six. If he keeps this power up, Amador certainly could be a dark horse for next season’s team.
