A trio of Astros prospects helped the Mesa Solar Sox score a 7-5 win Tuesday in Phoenix. It has been a rough season for the Sox so far. Today’s win gives them an overall record of 5-13 in Arizona Fall League play. Astros prospects Jonathan Singleton, George Springer, and Jiovanni Mier were all in today’s starting lineup.

Singleton drew a pair of walks in the contest and both Springer and Mier doubled and scored a run. Springer also singled and stole a base. The Astros contingent is playing inspired baseball after getting a visit from Bo Porter last week. Houston’s new skipper took a trip to the desert to not only meet the future Astros, but to spend some quality time with them.

The players were thrilled to see Porter and the feeling was mutual. Porter told astros.com:

"I got to see three games and was just really impressed with our young guys. Obviously, you hear all the great things that are being said about them, but it’s another thing when you see it for your own eyes."

All eight Astros players on the Solar Sox roster were treated to a nice  dinner by Porter at a restaurant that is known for its Australian style Bloomin’ Onion. There was no word on whether or not any Wallaby Darneds were consumed.
