This week the Astros got their first look at divisional opponents, traveling to Milwaukee and Cincinnati. A .500 road trip was looking like a possibility until the Reds staged a comeback Sunday afternoon sending the Astros home with a mark of 2-4 on the trip. Jose Altuve banged out three more hits and is the landslide winner of this week’s Star Performer award.

Altuve had five multi-hit games on the six game road trip, going 13 for 27 and scoring eight runs. Altuve had a homer and four RBIs to go along with a pair of stolen bases during the week. Altuve should get serious consideration for N.L. Player of the Week honors along with Jay Bruce and Colorado’s Carlos Gonzalez. Altuve has sparked the Astros offense since being moved to the number two spot and should remain there as long as he stays hot. Altuve is now among the league leaders in hitting, slugging, and on-base percentage.

Jed Lowrie is this week’s runner-up with a 9 for 25 performance that included a couple of longballs. Lowrie scored four runs and drove in five on the six game road trip. Lowrie also made a number of loud outs as he hit the ball with authority all week long. Not known for his defense, Lowrie made some outstanding plays in the field and has not committed an error all season.
