@LEXthePEX I was surprised that after Nightengale (sure I spelled it wrong but) who is really a pretty trusted source reported that the Cardinals deal was close to being done, it still hasn't happened. I was waiting around all day to hear that announcement be made and it never happened. In fact it sort of took a step backwards with the GM Mozeliak denying the report and said that nothing was imminent. Plus it is odd that Oswalts agent Barber came out and said that there is zero chance of Oswalt relieving. I wonder if the Cards may have asked if that could be an option causing the report. If so then a Cards deal may be looking less likely. I was surprised like everyone else to see the Astros linked to him, and to be honest I could kind of care less.

Part of me says its a smart move as if his agents fluff turns out to be true and Roy figured his back thing out towards the end of last year then he is a steal on a one year deal for anyone. Getting him and flipping him would be nice, especially since I love me some prospects.

The other part says that Oswalt's last year as an Astro was pretty rough, and that whole situation left a sour taste in my mouth and I would be surprised if Oswalt would be happy pitching for this team.

In short, if this happened the first part would be happy, and would convince the second part that its a smart baseball move.

I was pretty stunned to see the Stros in on Roy but also knew it was a longshot either way. STL makes WAY to much sense for Oz and could give them the best 1-4 in the NL and right up there with Anaheim in MLB.

Texas was always an intriguing spot but the heat and the fact he goes into a tough situation with the Rangers/Angels in a mega-war. The Cards will be the clear favorite in the NL Central now with only the Reds and possibly Brewers in their way. With those four pitchers, the Cards are built for a STRONG playoff run again. Can't wait to do their preview, lots of good questions to ask.
