Astros Q & A with a Cleveland Indians blogger

Much to the dismay of many Houston fans the Astros are moving to the American League in 2013. It will mark a new chapter in the history of the franchise that joined the National League as an expansion team in 1962. This season will be the sixteenth that has featured regular season interleague games. That means an entire generation of baseball fans has no recollection of the days when N.L. teams and A.L. teams met only in the World Series.

In addition to the traditional rivalry games with the Rangers, this year’s  interleague schedule has the Astros facing off against a trio of A.L. Central division opponents. The Astros will make an extra trip to the wonderful city of Chicago to face the White Sox in early June. Later that month the Royals and the Indians will be making the trek to Minute Maid Park.

Indians fans probably aren’t that familiar with the Astros. The two teams haven’t met since the 2001 season. Mike Brandyberry of Did the Tribe Win Last Night? recently contacted me with a few questions concerning the 2012 ‘Stros. Don’t worry, I didn’t give away any secrets.
