I saw Clemens make his first start for the Hooks and I was impressed with him too. I am working on a post about his future with the team.

I am definitely interested to see what Johnathan Singleton can do this upcoming season. What's surprising about him is he is pretty much ranked as high as he is because of his upside and projectability. This is mainly based out of scouts who see that he has the skillset of power and patience there, even if he's only flashed it from time to time thus far. He is still young.

I myself am a pitching fanatic and am pretty high on Cosart even though he is much like Singleton in that he is ranked that high based off of scouting reports and not actual performance so far. A 98 mph fastball will get you noticed. I am concerned about his injury history and the fact that he pitches with the inverted w does not ease my concerns any.

I saw a couple of starts of Paul Clemens on milb.tv this season and came away impressed.

I also think that a guy who is a sleeper and could surprise some people is Brett Oberholtzer. The bad body type has scared some away, but he has a good fastball and curve combination as a lefty with decent control. If he could gain consistency with his changeup as well then he could become a decent middle of the rotation type starter.

Similar to Oberholtzer I think that Ross Seaton has the chance to really surprise some people as well. He was another guy drafted in the 08 draft with Lyles and was expected to fly through the system with Lyles. That has not been the case so far and he has struggled at every level to a certain extent. However with the new found depth the Astros can finally have him repeat the AA level, which could be the best thing for him. Towards the end of last year, the last month I believe he was really impressive and had said that he was working through some mechanical issues and finally got everything sorted out. If this is the case he could have a big year at Corpus.
