Now that the World Series is over we can turn our attention more towards next season. But first let’s take a look at a few of the stories that are in the news this week.

Everyone is getting in on the act of piling on the Astros. A high school music teacher and baseball novice studied up on the sport in an effort to win a million dollars. Brian Kingrey quickly determined that pitching Roy Halladay against the Astros would give him the best shot at cashing in on the EA Sports MLB 2K11 contest. He was right.

Suddenly the Astros are considering opening the 2012 season with three catchers on the roster. Houston has claimed backstop Craig Tatum off waivers from the Orioles.

Plenty of baseball is still going on in the AFL and Winter Leagues. What the Heck, Bobby? provides regular updates on Astros players and prospects who are currently in action.

As we wait for the sale of the team to gain approval from MLB, Astros bloggers continue to throw around the term “in limbo” to describe the current state of the team. Why not? At this point we don’t even know which league the Astros will wind up in. How can the franchise attempt to move forward? Brian McTaggart’s latest article says the Astros will likely be spectators in this year’s Free Agent market.
